The purpose of the Viking Council Web Site is:

  • To promote a single unified presence for Viking Council on the Internet.

  • To promote online access to information regarding Viking Council programs, camps, special events, training, Council staff and district activities.

  • To encourage communications between Viking Council and its Scouts, Scouting Professionals, and Scouting Volunteers.

Internet Policy

It is the policy of Viking Council that all Internet material or information linked from, associated with, or utilizing the Viking Council name or logos be approved by Viking Council through the Scout Executive or designated representative and conform to Viking Council  guidelines.    See Detailed Policy information

General Guidelines

  • All documents, illustrations, photographs and linked material must conform to the highest principles, policies and traditions of the Boy Scouts of America and the Viking Council.

  • All requests for hosting, linking, or the posting of information will be made to the Webmaster of Viking Council.    The Webmaster will review each request and the associated material or link target with the Scouting Executive or his designee prior to any inclusion within the Viking Council web site.

  • Requests for hosting, linking or the posting of information which include Chat Rooms or Topic Forums will not be considered. Viking Council will not host any content of this type.  As a matter of Policy, Viking Council strongly discourages this kind of activity by District and Unit sites.

For further information,  see the detailed standards for Internet Publishing.

Viking Council Web Information and Resources

The web site is a legacy site of the Viking Council BSA, now Northern Star Council.
This site was the original council site and was active from 1996 to 2002 and run by volunteers.  As the web became more important to Scouting, the council took over with paid staff.  This site is no longer maintained but is an interesting snapshot of an early Scouting web site.    You can share your comments
using our on-line form or send a message to the Webmaster.   Thank you for visiting!
