Dear Scouting Leaders:

The 2001 "Join Scouting Night" theme for the Boy Scouts of America, Viking Council is "Because Too Much Fun is Never Enough!" I can't think of a more appropriate theme for the young people in our communities to rally around.

The 2001 Join Scouting Night program will offer thousands of young people the opportunity to join the positive, values-oriented programs of the Boy Scouts of America.

Our role as key facilitators of Join Scouting Night are to provide a positive first impression that gives thousands of young people an insight of what's in store for them in Scouting.

Join Scouting Night is a major undertaking! We are going to invite every eligible Cub Scout-age and Boy Scout-age boy to participate in the fun, adventure and challenge of Scouting by bringing his parents to a "Join Scouting Night" meeting on Thursday, September 13, 2001.

Through our commitment and work as a team, we will witness thousands of boys joining Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. And through our efforts, these youngsters will begin to learn the value of citizenship, the strength of moral character, and the personal satisfaction of physical and mental fitness that have always exemplified the Scouting program.

Our challenge is to "Be Prepared" on September 13, 2001 to make a positive first impression on thousands of new Scouts from around the Viking Council. This booklet contains all the information you need to be successful on Join Scouting Night.

On behalf of all the young men who will join Scouting on September 200st, thank you and welcome to the Join Scouting Night Team!

Sincerely,

"Garfield"

Honorary Join Scouting Night Chairman

The ScoutingBSA.org web site is a legacy site of the Viking Council BSA, now Northern Star Council.
This site was the original council site and was active from 1996 to 2002 and run by volunteers.  As the web became more important to Scouting, the council took over with paid staff.  This site is no longer maintained but is an interesting snapshot of an early Scouting web site.    You can share your comments
